“What are the most optimal ways for large companies and startups to organise strategic collaboration that aim to foster innovation especially in consumer cleantech sector?”
This is what Peloton Club’s new project aims to find out as strategic partnerships are necessary for the co-creation and development of groundbreaking products and services. Small companies and startups often have lots of exciting, fresh ideas, but lack the resources and/or knowhow for broad implementation. Large companies, on the other hand, often stick to established practices and are resistant to change. Through co-operation, it is possible to mobilize cleantech-related ideas more broadly than through individual action.
The Bees and Trees project has started in 2016 and will continue until 2018. It is part of Tekes’ CleanWeb Program and is run by Demos Helsinki and Aalto University School of Business with Coor Service Management, Granlund, S-Group, Bonava and several consumer-cleantech-startups. The project maps the possibilities for co-operation between small companies (bees) and large companies (trees) in the field of consumer cleantech. The initial matchmaking between large companies and start ups takes place during the autumn 2016. After the matchmaking phase, selected participants will establish partnerships, participate in innovation camps and learn as well as experiment new collaboration models facilitated by Demos Helsinki.
The goal is to create new resource smart business and novel effective co-creation models. In the end of the project, there will also be a review of the partnerships created and the results obtained. The lessons learned will be compiled and published in a manual, intended to guide and inform small companies in creating future partnerships with larger actors.
