Peloton Club goes to Baltic Sea
Smartup Accelerator brings together innovation actors in consumer cleantech field around the Baltic Sea to make the region a forerunner in sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship. The collaboration project of seven Baltic Sea Region countries – Latvia, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Sweden, Russia and Finland – is taking place throughout 2017-2020 and launches several national and international startup events, competitions, bootcamps and provides testbeds around the themes of consumer cleantech and smart innovations.

TRYOUT
TryOut Open Call
Do you have a business idea you would like to try out? Does it have to do with for example air quality, nutrient recycling, greywater treatment, sustainable consumption, open data or data modelling? We are looking for cleantech and circular economy teams to develop and experiment solutions with the city of Helsinki and its inhabitants. Experimentation takes place through the open innovation platform TryOut, which aims to enable business model testing in the city together with people.

BEES & TREES
New ways to collaborate
Bees & Trees project maps the possibilities for co-operation between large companies and start ups. The aim is to establish strategic partnerships that mobilize cleantech-related ideas more broadly. Also new forms of facilitated co-operation are experimented. Large companies involved include Coor Service Management, Granlund, S-Group and Bonava.

CLIMATE LAUNCHPAD
Join the world’s largest climate innovation competition
Do you have a business idea with a potential to decrease greenhouse emissions radically? Have you been thinking about solutions for smart cities, urban mobility and future food? Do you know some of the most promising upcoming names in the Finnish cleantech field?
Demos Helsinki, Aalto University, Environment Centre of City of Helsinki, and Climate-KIC are bringing the ClimateLaunchpad competition to Finland also in 2016. We are looking for teams in the beginning of their entrepreneurial path with energy-saving, emission-decreasing innovations or solutions, that will make sustainable decisions more attractive to consumers.

2 phases, 25 countries
ClimateLaunchpad is organized in 25 countries around Europe. The program is divided in two stages: the national acceleration program and the international finals.
The Finnish acceleration program is organized by think tank Demos Helsinki with Aalto University in May-June. The three most successful teams will get to take part in the international finals, held in Tallinn, October 7th and 8th, 2016.
What we offer to the participating teams
- We support your team in developing your idea towards first prototypes in the boot camp and the following mentor sessions.
- You will get personal mentoring from top coaches in Finland.
- Three best teams will get to pitch their idea in the Tallinn International Finals to top investors and mentors on 7th-8th October, 2016.
- The international finals’ ten best teams will get to partake in the 18-month Climate-KIC Acceleration Program. Monetary value for this is appr. 100.000 euros. In addition, the winner gets a prize of 10.000 euros.
You can participate in ClimateLaunchpad by yourself or with a team. Preconditions are that you or your team have an idea or startup that tackles climate change and it has received less than 200 000 € in investment. Additional info is found here.
