Bees & Trees – co-creation and partnerships between large companies and start ups

“What are the most optimal ways for large companies and startups to organise strategic collaboration that aim to foster innovation especially in consumer cleantech sector?”

This is what Peloton Club’s new project aims to find out as strategic partnerships are necessary for the co-creation and development of groundbreaking products and services. Small companies and startups often have lots of exciting, fresh ideas, but lack the resources and/or knowhow for broad implementation. Large companies, on the other hand, often stick to established practices and are resistant to change. Through co-operation, it is possible to mobilize cleantech-related ideas more broadly than through individual action.

ReKindle, Padurn and Rent-in-Shop are the Finnish winners of the ClimateLaunchpad idea competition

The Finnish finalists of ClimateLaunchpad, the world’s largest cleantech idea competition, have now been selected. The Finnish finals were held on 15th June in sunny Helsinki, taking place at the Microsoft Flux collaborative space. The three winners (short description of each) will now head to Tallinn, where the international finals will be held in September. The winner of the international finals will get to develop their idea at the prestigious ClimateKic Accelerator, a Europe-wide startup incubator.

The Finnish Champions of climate solutions are selected 15.6. at Microsoft Flux

The world’s largest climate innovation contest ClimateLaunchpad culminates at the national level in Microsoft Flux (Korkeavuorenkatu 35, Helsinki) 15.6. at 16:30, when 9 Finnish finalists will pitch their concepts. Sign up for the event here to hear ideas ranging from renewable-energy based solutions to clothes rental services.

ClimateLaunchpad aims to identify and push forward the most promising ideas and teams to tackle climate change. Out of the 40 Finnish teams that applied, 9 have been helped to make their solutions viable and attractive investors during the spring. After the Helsinki final, the top three teams will be sent to the European finals in Tallinn in September.

Peloton Club New Mobility -illassa hiljattain esiintynyt Joukon Voima aloittaa joukkorahoituskampanjan loppukirin yhdessä Ekorentin kanssa.

Sähköautojen yhteiskäyttöpalvelua tarjoava EkoRent laajentaa palveluverkostoaan joukkorahoittamalla.  Joukkorahoittajat saavat joukkorahoituskampanjaan osallistumisesta vastineeksi ajoaikaa. Ajotunnille tulee hintaa vähimmillään viisi euroa.  Yhteiskäyttöisten sähköautojen palvelupisteitä joukkorahoitetaan Helsingin Viikkiin ja Teurastamolle 20.10.-24.11.2015 välisenä aikana. EkoRent sitoutuu toteuttamaan palvelupisteet, kun rahoituksen minimitavoite ylittyy. Joukkorahoitus on helsinkiläisille näin ollen myös keino kehittää kaupunkiaan.

Smart Retro startup PiggyBaggy selected as a finalist for South by South West’s SXSW Eco Startup Competition

CoReorient, the company behind the PiggyBaggy crowdsourced delivery service that has been part of Demos Helsinki’s Smart Retro project, has been selected as a finalist in the SXSW Eco Startup competition taking place on October 5-7, 2015 in Austin, TX.

The world-famous South by Southwest events have been organized since 1987. For example, the social media service Twitter has initially been launched at SXSW. South by Southwest is one of the model examples of the domestic Slush startup event. PiggyBaggy / CoReorient will be part of the world-famous event’s Eco spinoff in its International category.

The new Peloton Smart Retro Acceleration Programme for urban services aims to revitalise three cities in three Nordic countries. The project originates from a Nordic public declaration on building more sustainable cities.

Sustainable urbanisation is a global necessity; to tackle climate change will require collaboration across borders. The Nordics are now leading the way with the Nordic Built Charter, a public declaration of the values, intentions and ambitions of a united Nordic building sector. The Charter lists the ten core values of Nordic building, most notably quality of life, respect for nature and great design – all with zero emissions.
